A city with chemistry in its history.
Kolkata is not a neutral starting point for a science company. In 1901, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray founded Bengal Chemical & Pharmaceutical Works here — India's first pharmaceutical enterprise, built on the conviction that rigorous chemistry could be both locally rooted and world-class. Calcutta Medical College, founded in 1835, was the first institution in Asia to teach Western medicine. The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and the Bose Institute followed from the same civic instinct: that a place could insist on original, checkable science rather than importing conclusions wholesale.
Qazivo doesn't claim that history — we're a new company, incorporated in 2026. But we chose to build here deliberately, in a city that has always argued science and ambition aren't mutually exclusive with place, and that a formulation's credibility travels on the strength of its record, not its address.
